Montana State University

Program Overview

Location: Bozeman, Montana
Culture: All-American, outdoorsy
Neighborhood: Scenic, small town/rural
Housing: On-campus dormitory
English level: Intermediate - advanced

With a holistic approach to education, Montana State University (MSU) has designed their academic program to prepare students, and by extension SAF Scholars to excel in all aspects of their lives. This is evidenced by the university’s hands-on approach to teaching, small class sizes and focus on the future through deliberate funding of leading research. MSU is among the top 3 percent of colleges nationally in research spending.

Located in Bozeman, Montana, the campus offers students a quiet, peaceful environment in which to study and explore nature. Outdoor activities are among the most popular things for residents and students alike. Adventurous activities, from biking to mountain climbing, are easily accessible from campus.

MSU has large presence in the local community university. Bozeman has 45,000 residents to MSU’s 16,000 students. In this way, SAF Scholars can enjoy a rural mountain life, while still having access to the conveniences of a small modern town, nicknamed “dream town” by Bizjournal.com.

Student Profile

SAF Scholars who would benefit from more personalized attention from professors and faculty would be a right fit for this student-centric program.

SAF Scholars who enjoy being outdoors would also feel at home hiking nearby mountains and exploring nearby parks. Outdoor activities of all types are plentiful.
