Oxford University, St. Anne's College

SAF Scholars will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the intellectual culture at the world-renowned University of Oxford, St. Anne’s College, one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in the English-speaking world.

Participating scholars would enjoy taking in the sights around campus, such as the diverse English architecture. A stroll through town would reveal historic gems, such as the Carfax Tower, the University Church of St. Mary the Virgin and Bodleian Library.

Located just 60 miles from London, Oxford has so much to see and that is a perfect complement to London’s hustle and bustle, such as great nature walks through its very green city and dining at its charming cafés. In sum, SAF Scholars would have the opportunity to meet students from all over the world in a truly global classroom as they experience dynamic university life in Oxford.

Student Profile

A unique aspect of learning at the University of Oxford is the world-renowned tutorial system. SAF Scholars will attend lecture classes that are intellectually challenging, stimulating and very rewarding. Each week students in the program would meet with tutors to discuss in-depth topics of study. A right-fit scholar would be someone who is very motivated, organized and prepared for independent study and debate.

Course Registration Policies & Procedures

SAF Scholars will register online during a specific time frame. Additionally, scholars will meet with their assigned tutor to determine the topics of their tutorials.

Course/Departmental Restrictions

St. Anne’s College is the only school at Oxford University where students may enroll in classes. For that reason, scholars are only allowed to enroll in courses within that school. Those specific courses are:

Meals

All student dormitories have access to shared kitchen space, which allows students to self-cater their meals. Additionally, each student’s university card will be topped with £125 to use at their discretion throughout each semester. Students may also purchase meal plans at their own expense.

Student Life

Co-/Extra-Curricular Opportunities or Programs

SAF Scholars and all visiting students will be invited to the ‘Freshers’ Fair’ event in the first week of a program. This is where SAF Scholars will hear from University Clubs, student societies and sports clubs and be invited to join as many as possible.

Life on Campus

St. Anne’s College campus is an ideal location within the city of Oxford. The modern campus is a short 10-minute walk from the city’s center and it encompasses an abundance of green lawns and park-like spaces. The residence halls, dining halls, library and academic student center are all easily accessible to one another.
