Neighborhood: Urban, cosmopolitan
Housing: On-campus dormitory
English level: Advanced

As one of the world's very best universities, University College London ranks 7th in the world in the most recent QS World University Rankings. What’s more, UCL consistently places in the global top 20 universities in a wide range of world university rankings. Notably, there has been at least one Nobel Laureate from the UCL community every decade since the establishment of the prizes in 1901.

UCL is a multi-disciplinary university, home to centers of teaching in subjects from Medicine to Languages, Law to Engineering and History to Astrophysics. UCL encourages scholars to take on an interdisciplinary study and believes all areas of study can inform and enrich the campus. The professors work hard to embed a global perspective in all course programs.

The London location of UCL gives SAF Scholars access not only to the best in entertainment and social environment, but also to cultural and academic resources. An urban adventure awaits! Think Big Ben, Parliament, Buckingham Palace — and so much more!

Student Profile

SAF scholars who are highly motivated academically and comfortable with quantitative methods of analysis would be a right-fit for this program.

Student Life

Co-/Extra-Curricular Opportunities or Programs

Outside of the rigors of studies, there’s plenty for SAF Scholars to do, see, enjoy and get involved in. The UCL Student Union runs a wide range of activities. Its 250 clubs and societies are all run by students. The groups cover a variety of interests from Sport and culture to arts and faith, and are open to all UCL students.

Life on Campus

International Students’ Orientation Program (ISOP), which takes place in September and again in January, is ideal for incoming SAF Scholars. The program is a great way for scholars to be introduced to London and to UCL. Aside from the formal and informal sessions held by UCL that help students become familiar with the university and its surroundings, there are a number of ISOP events that are open to SAF Scholars, including pub quizzes, breakfasts, walking tours and game nights.
