One of the largest and most prestigious universities in the United Kingdom, the University of Manchester offers access to excellent faculty, research opportunities, and cultural life for study abroad students. Located near the heart of a modern and multicultural city, the University of Manchester strives to enable students to improve both academically and personally. The university is one of three in the area, however it is the largest non-collegiate university in the United Kingdom.

Manchester city is full of cultural importance. Manchester Arena hosts music tours, the opera house hosts performing arts and is home to excellent theatre, opera, and dance productions. Manchester is also known for its amazing soccer football leagues, Manchester United and Manchester City.

SAF Scholars who participate in the Pre-sessional language courses at Manchester are academically focused on improving their English language ability to study for a subsequent academic semester in areas such as the life sciences, engineering, humanities, economics, sociology, and the social sciences. 
To bring an IELTS score up the indicated amount, a student would need the following Presessional course:
  • 1.5 points – 20 weeks (April to Sept)
  • 1.0 – 10 weeks (July to Sept)
  • 0.5 – 6 weeks (Aug to Sept)
To take the 3-week presessional (August to Sept), a student must already have a 6.5 and be working toward raising one band or their score to a 7.0. In addition, all English language and academic conditions must already be met and students must be an unconditional offer holder.

Co-/Extra-Curricular Opportunities or Programs

The “Stellify” program is the university’s way to encourage students to edify themselves. It includes opportunities in volunteering and community work, sports teams and clubs, and student societies and activities in the Students’ Union.

Life on Campus

This program acts like an academic family. Scholars will get to know their classmates inside and outside of the classroom. Social activities are common among students. Manchester is a city of entrepreneurs, political thinkers, social reformers and artists. The city will be the classroom, as cultural activities, seminars and trips to local attractions are all possible at Manchester.
