The University of New South Wales (UNSW) ranks as one of the top universities in Australia and has attracted an impressive reputation for being a cosmopolitan university, with students from 128 countries. Opportunities are endless in this nationally-renowned and globally-known institution. The informal and welcoming nature of Australia affords SAF Scholars the ability to become familiar with the unique blend of Australia's heritage and culture while also attending a wide range of courses.

Program Dates by Term Availability

Semester 2/Fall (July - November)

Progression or Concurrent Notes

Two progression options are available: 15 weeks (Spring start) or 20 weeks (Fall start). Students will need to achieve a C+ in the classes and a minimum of 20 on the writing TOEFL iBT in order to successfully progress to the academic program. 

Program Strengths

Diversity and options are two significant strengths at UNSW. This is true through their course offerings as well as their extra-curricular events and activities. The university is also highly ranked in Engineering and business. 

# of Credits (per term)

24 credits per semester. This typically breaks down to four courses worth six credits each.

Scholars will register for courses prior to their arrival in Australia.

Course/Departmental Restrictions

Some courses and departments have limited access. Therefore, SAF Scholars cannot enroll in the following courses prior to their arrival. However, if they choose, they can attend the course on their first day and check if there are any open seats and then obtain permission from the professor.

Co-/Extra-Curricular Opportunities or Programs

SAF Scholars have access to the numerous and almost unlimited activities that the UNSW campus and Sydney overall offers. On-campus societies, through Arc, offer access to meeting other students with similar interests - to name a few, theatre, sports, Disney, accounting, game development and more. 

Life on Campus

Students will interact with an abundance of other international and local students who live in and around campus. UNSW's main campus, Kensington Campus, is situated near public transportation. Students are easily able to explore the beaches, cultural landmarks, and the world-class restaurants and shops of Sydney.
