SAF Scholars who enroll in this program will find a lot to adore about the university and the city of Edinburgh. Firstly, the University of Edinburgh is known for its renowned faculty. Their celebrated teaching is complemented by the university's investment in and development of cutting-edge teaching and research facilities. Accordingly, the academic professors are leaders in their field and their research directly informs their teaching. In this way, while SAF Scholars study alongside degree-seeking students they may be taught by world-leading researchers.

Secondly, the university offers a wealth of support for international students that complements SAF's outstanding student support services. Edinburgh's Global and College Visiting Student Offices help guide SAF Scholars through the duration of their time abroad.
Thirdly, SAF Scholars enrolled in this language program have the freedom to choose their course of study. Each day SAF Scholars would attend Integrated Language Improvement lectures with other visiting students, followed by their choice to study either English for Academic Purposes or English Skills for General Purpose.
Lastly, but not least, Edinburgh is a stunningly beautiful city! The medieval Old Town and elegant Georgian New Town are said to makeup the world's most beautiful cityscape, inscribed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 1995. With a population of 500,000, Edinburgh is the size of a town, but boasts the social and cultural assets of a metropolis, making it one of the UK’s leading travel destinations.

Student Profile

This program is ideal for SAF Scholars who wish to improve their English language skills before undertaking courses with degree-seeking students. Because SAF Scholars may choose to enroll in courses outside of their major, right-fit scholars may also wish to explore a new discipline while abroad.
