The University of Westminster was opened in 1838 and has been providing students with cultural engagement and academic excellence ever since. Westminster focuses on providing its students, and by extension SAF Scholars, with unique access to a community of renowned professionals and faculty. 

SAF Scholars who participate in the language semester (followed by academic semester) at the University of Westminster will complete their language semester with:

  • Increased confidence and ability to communicate effectively in academic English
  • Improved performance in all four language skills with in the context of their studies
  • Developed critical and analytical skills, which are key to succeeding at the university in academic coursework in the subsequent semester
  • Increased independence as a learner.
Located in central London, Westminster is a global university in a global city. London boasts 8 million residents who speak more than 300 languages. London also serves as a cultural capital and a world center for the creative industries. As such, SAF Scholars who attend this program would gain access to some of the world’s best museums and galleries. At the university SAF Scholars would be able to enjoy artist-run exhibits, sporting facilities, cafés, archive and library services and much more.

Program Dates by Term Availability

Fall Semester (September – January) – Progression only
  • SAF Scholars take the English courses in the Fall semester followed by a semester of Academic study
  • Students who do not test into full academic study for the Spring semester will have a combination of English language courses and academic courses to complete their academic year abroad

Program Strengths

As a student in the language portion of the progression program (Language + Academic) at university of Westminster, SAF Scholars will be taught in groups and will also receive individual personal attention from their teachers throughout the program via tutorials and feedback sessions.
